Pampered Chef Fundraiser 2016

Welcome to our Annual Pampered Chef Fundraiser! You've all made this such a successful event for our club in the past, we thought we'd treat you to something new and fun this year!

This is not your normal fundraising shopping experience! This is a FUN, FAST, NEW way to shop! Saturday's Swimarathon

Lots of fun was had at the Rotary Swimarathon!  Great to see so many Stringrays participate!

Congratulations on raising $1100.00 for our club and even more money to help eradicate polio through the Rotary Club and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
Special thanks to the Perth Rotary Club members and Coach Trent for helping to make the event a fun filled success!  Get ready for next the wild relays next year!

Clothing Order extended until Saturday, February 20th at 9:30 am


We do not yet have our minimum order of six swim suits so if more orders are not received, we will not be able to get swim suits during this round of ordering.
Melanie Hollywood will be at the pool this week: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 4:30-6:15 pm and Saturday morning from 8-9:30 am.  The swim suit sizing kit will be available at these times.
Order forms and cheques can also be deposited in the Blue Stingrays Box on the pool deck by Saturday, February 20th at 9:30 am.

Reminder about the Swimmarathon

Just a reminder to everyone to keep collecting those pledges for the swim marathon next Saturday February 20. Sponsor sheets are on the bulletin board or you can download one here.  The sign up sheet to bring food for the team breakfast after practice is also on the bulletin board. This is a great team event and shows our support to the Rotary Club and to this cause. Please plan to participate!

Officiating clinics available

Hello Stingrays officials!  I have received the following email from Charles Montpetit (Eastern Ontario Regional Officials representative to Swim Ontario).  There will be a number of clinics held  at the U of O over the next few weeks if you are interested in participating.  The contact information is below.

"GO Kingfish will be hosting a series of clinics during normal practice times on 20 February 2016 at Montpetit Hall:
 a.       Chief Timekeeper – 08:30 to 09:30
 b.      Strokes and Turns – 09:30 to 11:30
 c.       Timekeepers Clinic – 10:30 to 11:45
 d.      Starter Clinic – 08:30 to 10:30

Carleton Place Mid Winter Melt Results

This past Sunday, 15 Stingrays headed to Carleton Place for the Mid-Winter Melt. Perth Swimmers were having fun right from the start. Many bell heat prizes were won as well as quite a few top 3 placings. The results were fantastic with 80% of individual races ending with improved times! Lauryn Affleck, Megan Emon, Alice Herrington, Kenzie Hopper and Wynne Kennie had best times in all 4 individual events. Results can be found here. Great Job Stingrays!

Swimmarathon - Advertising at Barnabe's Independent Grocer

Next Saturday Feb 13, Ralph Burt (member of the Perth Rotary Club) will have a table at Barnabe's Independent Grocery Store, soliciting donations to the Rotary-Stingrays Swimmarathon coming up. He would love to have some of the Stingrays members join him throughout the day. He will be there from 10 am until about 4 pm. If any of you can spare 30 or 60 minutes, please sign up at the pool in the next few days. Don't forget to wear some Stingrays gear!

Carleton Place Meet this weekend

Hello Stingrays Swimmers going to the Carleton Place Water Dragon meet on February 7th!

The meet has been changed to be one session. Warm up is now at 9:30AM, with a start time of 10:15AM and an estimated finish of1:15PM.

Stingray swimmer meet entries are posted on the hallway bulletin board at the pool.

Swimmarathon in Partnership with the Rotary is set for Feb 20








The fourth annual Swimarathon will be held on Saturday Feb 20 starting at 08:00 at the Perth Pool. The Stingrays are once again partnering with the Rotary Club to participate in this worldwide event. The Swimarathon raises money to eradicate polio.

Please do what you can to raise some money for this cause. For the official sponsorship form for Swimarathon click on this Sponsorship Form 

Approximate Order of Events:
  • 08:00 Official swim portion of the event (all swimmers will complete 100 metres)
  • 08:15 (approx) fun water activities for the swimmers
  • 08:45 (approx) casual potluck snack and drinks (please bring some muffins/fruit with you) in the Multi-Purpose room
Every $1 raised for this "End Polio Now" Swimarathon instantly becomes three dollars thanks to a 2-to-1 match by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Tax receipts will be mailed to any donor requesting one and donating at least $20. Please have the donor complete their mailing address and put a check in the Tax Receipt box if they want one. All collected monies go the Rotary Club of Perth. The Rotary Club in turn will return to the Stingrays an amount equal to whatever the Stingrays raise.
