Tickets are on sale for our upcoming Dinner & Dance Fundraiser on Friday April 15th and they are going fast!

Time:   6:00 pm - 11:00
Cost:  $40.00 per person includes buffet, live music with Spencer Evans Trio

NKB Welcome to Long Course Meet Update

Hello Stingrays,
For those attending the NKB Welcome to Long Course Meet, here is the latest update (including revised session times):



Meet Format:
This is a 3-day competition with 6 sessions.  Session 1 is distance and it is open to all swimmers.  13 & over swimmers swim timed finals in the morning and evening on Saturday & in the afternoon on Sunday.  12 and under swimmers swim timed finals in the afternoon on Saturday and in the morning on Sunday.

The 50 free for 13 and over swimmers is the only event with prelims, semis and finals. The prelims for this event will be swum on Saturday morning.  The top 16 by gender will advance to the semis which will be swum on Saturday evening.  The top 8 by gender will advance to the final which will be swum on Sunday afternoon. The top female and male swimmer in this event will each receive a $50.00 gift certificate for East Side Mario’s Restaurant

The meet is long course.  All races will start in the deep end of the pool.   The warm up pool is not available for this meet.

Warm-Up Safety Procedures:
Swimming Canada Warm-up competition safety procedures will be in effect at this meet.

Distance Events (400 & 800):
Swimmers will be swimming two per lane.

Scratches:
Meet management should be informed of scratches prior to the start of the session.  Scratches will result in empty lanes with no penalty to the swimmer.

Miscellaneous:     No Food on Deck – please advise your swimmers

Renting a Van to go to Olympic Trials on April 6th

The Olympic Swimming Trials will happen in Toronto next week and our very own Bailey Andison and Olivia Ellard will be participating! Gail Wren has graciously offered to coordinate renting a van to drive down to the Finals on Wednesday April 6th which is the evening for the 400 IM and the 100 Back. There is a good chance that Bailey will make the final of the 400 IM and Olivia has a good chance at making the final for the 100 Back. If you are interested in going down in the van, here is what you should do:
  • Contact Gail Wren at gecwren@gmail.com or phone 613-267-1682 to reserve a spot
  • Submit $50 per person into the Blue Box at the pool and indicate that it is for the trip to Olympic Trials. This will cover the cost of the ticket and incidentals.
  • Depart Perth at 2:30 pm
  • Cheer like crazy!!!
  • return back to Perth that evening whenever all the excitement is over!
Please note that anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

The entry deadline for the 2016 ROCS 4th Annual "Go the Distance" Night and Long Course Pentathlon Meet is fast approaching.  All Silver and Bronze swimmers are invited.  The deadline to accept the invitation is Wednesday, March 30, 2016.  If you want to go, get signed up.

Update for Easter Monday Swim Practice

The morning practice for Age Group and Senior will be from 9 to 11 on Monday March 28. Afternoon practice will remain at the regular time for all groups.

Easter Swim Practice Schedule

Here is the schedule for the Easter weekend:

Friday 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. - Senior & Age Group
All afternoon practices, including Master's, cancelled.

Saturday - normal schedule.
Sunday - regular Master's practice (final practice of winter session).
Monday - normal schedule (Gold swimming with Age Group)

US College Expo Information Session

The US College Expo is coming up Wednesday April 27, 2016. Your student athletes will benefit greatly from this event, learning about the U.S. Admissions Process, NCAA, Common App, and more… your players will engage and network with representatives from American Colleges and Universities and uncover answers to questions pertaining to athletics;
  • What is the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and how do you meet NCAA eligibility?
  • Which sports qualify for scholarships?
  • What are U.S. Coaches looking for?
  • Do you have to write SAT/ACT and SAT Subject Tests?
  • Is a prep school or a community college a better start for you?
