Hello Stingrays families!
>
> January 4, 5, and 6, 2013 is the date for our next edition of the Mike Brown meet. This is considered a fairly large meet, 7 sessions over 3 days. It is also the single largest fundraiser our club hosts.
>
> We will need all hands on deck (and off!) for this meet. I am asking that you "save the date" for the meet. As we get closer to the date itself, I'll be sending out further emails looking for people to fill specific roles. Along with your swimmer's meet ballot there will be a form to fill out for volunteers/positions.
>
> If you have not already done so, please log on to www.osoa.ca and register as an official with the Ontario Swim Officials Association. From there you can link to the online courses that OSOA offers. Level 1 Timekeeper is the basic requirement. There are a number of other courses that are also available, including Stroke and Turn Judge, Chief Finish Judge (who determines the final times for the swimmers), Clerk of Course, Recorder/Scorer etc. These are all roles which are essential to running a swim meet.
>
> I'm looking into running a modified Level 2 - Stroke and Turn Judge course in December. If you are interested (or I'm twisting your arm in the friendliest of ways....) please let me know. I will ask that people do the course online and we will have a practical "on deck" review of the role, the strokes, the DQ process etc.
>
> As always, if you have any questions/concerns/comments please do not hesitate to ask.
>
> Thank you!
