Report from Coach Rod:

739 swimmers from 112 swim clubs in eastern Canada gathered for the 2103 Speedo Eastern Canadian Short Course Championships. Bailey Andison, 15, Smiths Falls, was our top performer collecting a silver medal in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:32.99. She broke the Perth Stingrays’ club record and qualified to compete at the 2013 World Championships Trials to be held in Victoria in early April. Bailey also won a bronze medal in the 100 breaststroke and placed 5th in the 50 breaststroke. Her results rank her 6th in Canada in the 50 & 100 and 5th in the 200 for 15 year old girls. Her 200 ranks her 26th overall in Canada. She is ranked #1 in Ontario in both the 100 & 200 breaststroke leading into the 2013 Ontario Age Group Championships to be held in Nepean, Ontario February 28 to March 3, 2013. Olivia Ellard, 14, Perth also earned national recognition with a 5th place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:03.36 – new Stingrays club record), 8th in 50 backstroke and 12th in 200 backstroke. Olivia is currently ranked 3rd in Ontario in the 200 backstroke (9th in Canada) and 5th in the 100 back (8th in Canada) heading into the Provincial Championships. The two Stingrays swimmers helped the team to a 43rd place team standing at the meet with only 2 other Eastern Ontario teams, GO Kingfish and Nepean Kanata Barracudas, placing higher.
