Recent Stingrays Results

2014 Speedo Eastern Canadian Championships

Two Stingrays, Bailey Andison and Olivia Ellard, travelled to the newly built Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre for the prestigious 2014 Speedo Eastern Canadian Championships held February 13 – 16, 2014. Competing against the best swimmers in Eastern Canada, the two Stingrays swam impressively. Top swim was Bailey’s bronze medal swim in the 16 & over women’s 200 breaststroke. Bailey’s time of 2:32.21 is a new Stingrays’ record and qualifies Bailey for the upcoming 2014 Canadian Trials for the Pan Pacific Games and the Commonwealth Games in Victoria in early April. Close on Bailey’s heels was Olivia placing 4th in the 15 & under women’s 200 backstroke. Olivia’s time is also a new Stingrays’ record and qualifies Olivia for the Trials as well. Overall, Bailey and Olivia swam 100% best times and lowered 6 Stingrays’ records in the process.

2014 Ontario Winter Festival

Four Stingrays, Thomas MacMillan, Lauren Miller, Megan Wheeler and Courtney Wren, travelled to Brantford for the 2014 Ontario Winter Festival held February 15 & 16, 2014. The Winter Festival is a provincial championship for swimmers 13 & under. The two day meet saw several hundred of Ontario’s best descend on the Wayne Gretzky Aquatic Centre. Top Stingray was Lauren Miller, 12, placing 3rd in the 12 year-old girls 400 individual medley. Other top swims were turned in by Megan Wheeler, 10, 5th in both 100 breaststroke and 400 freestyle and 7th in the 100 individual medley. Megan’s 400 freestyle time of 5:35.45 is a new Stingrays’ record! Thomas MacMillan, 11, placed 8th in the 400 individual medley and Courtney Wren, 13, placed 9th in the 800 freestyle.

2014 Carleton Place Water Dragons Mid-Winter Melt

Twenty Stingrays competed in the 2014 CPWD Mid-Winter Melt on Sunday, February 9, 2014. Top Stingrays were Skylar Etherington, 10, placing 1st in 50 backstroke, 100 & 200 individual medley and 3rd in 50 breaststroke. Skylar’s time in the 100 individual medley was a Festival qualifying time. Elizabeth Greaves, 11, placing 1st in 50 & 100 freestyle, 100 individual medley and 50 butterfly. Lyndsay Empey, 10, placing 1st in 50 breaststroke and 4th in 200 individual medley. Makayla Hopper placing 1st in 200 individual medley, 2nd in 100 & 200 freestyle and 3rd in 50 butterfly. Allina Warwick, 11, placing 1st in 50 backstroke and 3rd in 50 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. Sami Armstrong, 12, placing 2nd in 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and 100 freestyle and 3rd in 50 and 200 freestyle. Angus Funston, 10, placing 2nd in 50 butterfly and 3rd in 50 freestyle, 100 individual medley and 50 breaststroke. Nicolas Gauthier, 11, placing 2nd in 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley. Olivia Thomson, 12, placing 4th in 50 breaststroke.
