Next up: The Mike Brown Invitational 2015 Meet! ***Save the Date!***

After another successful meet this past weekend, it's time to look forward and plan for our biggest home meet of the year:  The Mike Brown Invitational 2015 Meet.  It will be held on January 9, 10 and 11th, 2015. This is a big meet with 7 sessions in total over the three days. The distance session will be on the Friday in the later afternoon.  The other sessions are broken down into 10 and under, 11-12, 13 and older and will be held on the Saturday and Sunday.

This meet is the one firm obligation we have requiring our families to work. When you receive your swimmer's meet request, you will also be prompted to sign up on the OSOA website. Prior to the swimmers being entered in the meet by the coaches, the OSOA site will be checked to verify that this requirement has been met.

The Mike Brown meet is on the OSOA website now, ready for signing up. I have kept the meet closed to outside clubs up until now.  This is to offer our officials the opportunity to sign up in the positions they desire.  This is your best chance to obtain the deck evaluations in different positions on deck.  I have had some requests already from outside clubs to help officiate.  I will open the meet up to all clubs at the beginning of December.  Get your requests in early!

Hospitality and the canteen will have their sign up on the OSOA site as well.  If you were planning on working in that role and don't already have an OSOA account, please log on to www.osoa.ca to set one up. (The details about setting up an account may be found under the "Officials" tab of this blog)

I am looking to run a Stroke and Turn clinic and a Starter's clinic in early December.  Tentatively, the Stroke and Turn clinic will be Saturday December 6th during team workout.  In the past, I have asked that people do the online course through the OSOA website and the session on the 6th is a "hands on" practical session with our senior swimmers providing live demonstrations of the common errors as well as the correct way to perform the turns and do the strokes.  If there is enough interest, I will put on a formal clinic on the Friday evening during swim practice.  I have to confirm that the space is available to do that.   The Starters' clinic will be on Friday, December 12th, during practice.  This clinic is meant for officials who have some deck experience, particularly in Stroke and Turn.

Lots of information today!  As ever, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Thanks,   Siobhan Muldowney, Club Officials Chair
