Goodbye to Coach Wendy

It is with mixed feelings that we want to announce that Wendy Wagland will be moving away from Perth at the end of this month. She and her husband Peter have sold their house and are moving to the Lindsay area to be closer to their grandchildren. We are very happy for her, but also sad to be losing such a great coach!

Wendy has been coaching with the Stingrays since 2003 when she first moved to Perth. She says when she first started, she didn't know a soul in Perth and that the Stingrays changed all of that! In Wendy's words "The Stingrays have been a big part of my life here in Perth, for the past 12 years.I have watched the swimmers have great successes, work through some ups and downs and break numerous club records. Seeing the swimmers grow and develop into responsible, young adults has been most rewarding."

Wendy has been such a great coach and inspiration to all the swimmers with her own amazing accomplishments in the pool. She has always been a pleasure to work with and her dedication to the sport of swimming has had a huge affect on the Perth Stingrays.

Wendy and Peter are moving by the end of May so she will not be able to attend our year end banquet. We wish her and Peter all the best with their move and their adjustment to a new location (I'm sure it will never equal Perth :-). You can send best wishes to Wendy at wwagland@ripnet.com.

We hope to do a small presentation to her in the next week, so stay tuned for details.
